The idea
The Right2Thrive UK Wellbeing Hub is dedicated to transforming mental health support for young people and families in Edmonton Green, one of London's most deprived communities. Our project aims to tackle the lingering effects of COVID-19, such as anxiety, trauma, and social isolation, alongside the daily challenges posed by persistent violent crime. Recognising the importance of family in a child's wellbeing, we provide accessible, community-focused services to promote resilience and healing. With over 150 individuals already supported, we aspire to empower more families, prioritising trust and ensuring no one hesitates to seek professional help due to fear or stigma.

Why it's a great idea
Breaking the cycle of suffering in silence: Black families will access mental health support without fear. With advocacy protecting against discriminatory sectioning—crucial when young Black males face detention rates 3.3 times higher than white peers—parents can finally seek help their children desperately need. Cultural stigma dissolves through peer support with families who understand both community pressures and systemic racism.
Transforming family wellbeing: Parents gain practical skills to support traumatized children affected by community violence and pandemic isolation. Professional psychological support helps whole families heal together. Administrative advocacy removes the bureaucratic maze that prevents 70% of families from accessing services they're entitled to.
Protecting young lives: Early intervention prevents mental health crises requiring hospitalization. Children receive appropriate therapy instead of punitive sectioning.
Steps to get it done
- Milestone 2: Support 45 young people and 20 families by Month 6
