A motorcycling project to distribute food, drinks + care packages to those in need on the street, in shelters and to distribution centres whilst also bringing people together.
Ride to Raise is a group of people based in Winsford, (Mid Cheshire), that deliver food, drinks and care packages to those in need on the street, in shelters, distribution centres and to food banks. Growing out of our work to support those experiencing homelessness, we've seen how interested people are in our motorcycles and the way they start conversations as we visit different parts of Cheshire distributing food! We're keen to harness this as a way to bring people together - not just around the good cause - but also trialling a scheme to provide motorcycle social clubs- 'adventure experiences' available to members of the community who want to give it a try. Our adventure group will help people to get out and about to enjoy the outdoors and to experience this with other like-minded individuals, with a view to improving people's mental health, well being and creating friendships.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The benefits are twofold: - There is the direct charitable aim of supporting those experiencing poverty in various forms as they will receive food and care packages. - Those interested in the motorcycling social club will also gain a sense of connection with others - building community and combatting loneliness. The result of what we seek to offer, will enhance everyone that we engage with in many different ways. Our goal is to improve people’s well-being, safety, mental health and to create an environment for those in the community who are lonely, vulnerable, suffering with mental health issues - by helping others in our community we can also strengthen our own sense of belonging and connection.
Steps to get it done:
Achievements so far: *On new years day 2022 Ride to Raise rode 500 miles and raised £2350 for St Luke's Hospice* *Ride to Raise has set up partnerships with 3 homeless shelters, foodbanks and Morrsions Community Champions* *Ride to Raise has been regularly distributing food, drinks and care packages to the homeless in Chester, Liverpool, Manchester, Crewe, Nantwich and Northwich from our motorcycles and has helped in excess of 500 people so far this year* Aims and ambitions *To have Ride to Raise operating in every major town and city* Can you help us to achieve more?
