Revitalise Carterton Family Centre

At Carterton Family Centre we offer a weekly programme of low-cost activities for families in the local area to reduce loneliness and provide opportunities for play for young children.

This project has reached its fundraising target. It has also activated Continuous Fundraising, which means you can still donate and support the project.

The idea

Every week we offer a programme of activities providing a low cost (we only ask for a £1 donation per person) and inclusive place for families to engage with their children and meet other families. We offer two baby groups per week, a soft play session, two stay & play sessions for children up to 5 and a new homework club for primary school aged children. We currently have an average of 240 adults and 330 children per month attending our sessions who come from Carterton, Witney and the surrounding villages.
During school holidays we offer low-cost activities for families with primary-school aged children.
We are seeking funding in order to expand what we offer to the local community, refresh our tired toys and equipment and get new play facilities for our outside space.

What we'll deliver

  • Purchase new garden play equipment
  • Buy new toys and sensory equipment
  • Provide low-cost baby and toddler groups for the local community

Why it's a great idea

Our sessions provide a safe and welcoming place for parents and carers to bring their young children. We provide a listening ear to those going through difficulties and sign-post to other agencies who are able to help with specific issues. Having young children at home can be a lonely experience and having a place to come and meet other parents helps combat social isolation and improve mental health.
Our sessions provide numerous benefits for babies and children including:
- Social development through interacting with peers
- Language development through songs and rhyme
- Cognitive development through play
- Physical development through balancing and climbing over soft-play equipment
- Building confidence through meeting new people

Carterton Family Centre is also used by other organisations including APCAM, Purple Advisory Care (SEN support) and the health visiting team so your support will be even further reaching.

Steps to get it done

  • Purchase garden equipment
  • Order blinds for hall
  • Replace broken toys and equipment
