Return to Cricket at The Glebe

We are raising money to ensure the survival of our wonderful village club.

The idea

We need to offset the financial losses of this season because we have had to pay our normal fixed costs, regardless of the Covid-19 crisis. (League fees, cricket ball purchase, ground maintenance, insurance and utility bills.)

Each Saturday, the club receives a £40 donation from the opposition to pay for the tea. The club member making the tea, donates the food to the club as a fundraiser. This season there were going to be 20 home games, which would have raised £800 alone.

Player match fees also raise approximately £50 profit per home match. We have lost 13 Saturdays completely, before cricket restarted, so a further £650, has been lost from our income.

This is an approximate shortfall of just under £1,500.

This will be our ultimate target in seeking your support.

The ECB will donate £100 to our cause if we receive pledges for £100. We want to ensure that there is a place for the whole community to come together to play, watch and enjoy cricket (and accompanying picnics!)

What we'll deliver

  • Help pay for critical overheads during Covid-19 crisis
  • Cover key running costs, including ground maintenance

Why it's a great idea

We love our cricket club and want to ensure that it survives this crisis.

Since the return of cricket was announced on the 18th July, we have been so pleased to offer a safe and secure welcome to so many families and friends associated with the village and beyond.

Our setting is stunning and our supporters appreciate this wonderful backdrop for our national summer game.

Steps to get it done

  • Run crowdfunding campaign to raise funds
  • Pay for essential overheads
