Barons Court Project is a lifeline for people who live on the margins of society, adversely affected by the cost-of-living crisis, and frequently have nowhere else to go for help.
We are the only Day Centre in Hammersmith & Fulham which brings people together to meet their basic needs, supports them to reach their potential, as well as reducing their social isolation. We are a community where guests can belong, contribute, and thrive. It is a home for those who do not have one - or for those who do not feel at home within themselves.
The primary reason for the proposed building project is a distinct lack of space for our guests. There has been a huge increase in volume of homeless guests over the last few years. We have run out of seating for our guests to sit, relax, and socialise. Guests have been forced to sit on the floor in our TV Room.
From April 2024 to March 2025, the number of people living on the streets in London was 3,028, which is a 27% rise on the previous year and a 90% increase compared to a decade ago. This trend is unlikely to diminish and we need to be prepared to meet this demand to support people experiencing homelessness over the next 40 years, and beyond.
Open Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm, our centre offers three levels of essential support:
Body – Meeting Basic Needs
We provide immediate relief through:
- Hot, nutritious breakfasts and lunches
- Showers, laundry facilities, toiletries, and clean clothing
- Health services, including dental checks, eye care, free glasses, podiatry, GP referrals
- One-to-one support with accommodation, benefits, and language needs
Mind – Building Stability & Opportunity
We empower guests with:
- Job readiness support—CV writing, job applications, interview coaching
- Weekly mental health appointments with the Outreach Community Mental Health Team
- Our Homeless Made social enterprise, where guests design greeting cards and accessories to generate income
Spirit – Restoring Hope & Community
To promote emotional well-being and self-development, we offer:
- Art classes and creative workshops
- Peer support/wellbeing groups for men and women
- Day trips and group activities to reduce isolation and foster friendships
