More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

While our main focus was on coaching and team development, our project supported the environment in a few key ways. By securing a regular local pitch, we reduced the need for travel to distant venues and encouraged car pooling via group chats. Additionally, promoting outdoor physical activity encouraged greater use of green community spaces, reinforcing the value of shared public environments.

The local economy

The local economy

Our project helped support the local economy by hiring a nearby pitch facility for regular sessions, ensuring consistent income for a local business. By training community members as coaches, we invested in local skills development, opening up future opportunities for employment or volunteer roles in grassroots sports. Overall, the project kept funds circulating within the community and contributed to local growth.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

Three team members completed an Introduction to Coaching Football course, gaining valuable qualifications that can lead to coaching roles or further training. By investing in people from our own community, we’re not only strengthening our team but also building a pathway for personal growth, future jobs, and long-term involvement in grassroots sports.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Our football project supported local culture by strengthening community identity and pride through sport—a key part of many communities’ heritage. By involving local volunteers and players, we helped preserve the tradition of grassroots football, which plays a vital role in social connection and shared cultural experiences. Sport, like the arts, brings people together and builds lasting community spirit.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Our project directly promoted physical activity, health, and leisure by providing regular, accessible football training sessions for the LGBTQ+ community. With qualified coaches and a consistent pitch location, participants engaged in structured exercise, improving their fitness, mental wellbeing, and social connection.
