The Dulwich Estate is a charity founded to offer educational opportunities to dis-advantaged children, sheltered homes for the elderly, and providing a place of worship in the community. We invest income from the land and property we own, and provide funding to seven schools across London, either directly or through foundation trusts.
The project is in response to requests for investment in the natural heritage of the Estate by its trustees, societies, voluntary groups and residents who live in and around the area and who are engaged in its management and maintenance.
Cumulatively, works at individual sites such as this will have a multiplier effect on future biodiversity and landscape projects for which the Estate is not eligible to apply. It will likewise aid planting on land which is commercially let such as sports fields where there are currently no obligations within long term leases to invest in green infrastructure.
