More about our impact
The local economy
With 12000 people attending over the weekend, this is by far the largest event in our town. It benefits the local retailers and hospitality outlets.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Throughout the year and over the weekend we have a team of approximately 60 volunteers who help us out.
Arts, culture & heritage
Creativity is at the forefront of all our activities at The Phoenix festival, providing opportunities for everyone to delve into the benefits of expressing themselves as individuals and learning new skills in a safe environment. Throughout their journey, young artists get to perform in a professional environment with industry led specialists supporting and guiding them every step of the way. Our creative wellbeing zone, focuses on the connection between engaging in arts + crafts, creative activities and mental-health, giving the mind something to focus on as well as a new challenge. This area is aimed at everyone young and old, to provide the opportunity to submerse themselves in creativity and explore their knowledge and skills in a totally free environment, thus forth removing socioeconomic barriers. Our arena area brings the wider community together, , inviting local groups and organisations to come and perform in the arena to showcase their talents.
Activity, health and leisure
The arena promotes local activity groups such as martial arts and gymnastics. This enables spectators to see what is on offer in Cirencester and take up new hobbies. The creative zone and activity corner allows children and adults to get involved in arts and crafts and we also have a storytelling fairy which children can listen to and allow their imagination to flow. Most attendees walk to the event as they are local, therefore encouraging exercise whilst children enjoy playing with friends. The event is set in the beautiful Abbey Grounds which also allows attendees to enjoy the open air and surroundings which helps mental wellbeing.
