More about our impact
The local economy
We are working in an area where significant numbers of the community struggle with poverty and deprivation. Enabling the young people to be in a safe place once a week, to have food (which they can cook themselves) and to make friends is a huge help to them and their families. The short time the young people are with us provides those who care for them with respite and helps with their own physical and mental wellbeing.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We have recruited a new adult volunteer from the local community who attends every session. He brings new ideas and expertise to the sessions, We have also recruited a couple of other local volunteers to attend every so often with differing craft ideas to show the young people.
Arts, culture & heritage
Maybe we are creating the artists of the future!
Activity, health and leisure
Having a safe place, finding new friends, learning new skills...all help to promote better mental health and feelings of self worth of the young people.
