The idea

Northwich Pride CIO is a volunteer led charity working to support the LGBTQIA+ community in the Northwich Area. Open hearts welcome!

We are holding our first community-led, free to attend, Pride event on 6 June 2026, running 11am - 4:30pm. This has been postponed until 19 September 2026, running 11am-4:30pm at Barons Quay Meadow.

We want to showcase a range of local organisations and community groups working in partnership to promote diversity and inclusion for the residents of Northwich. Where possible, we will be using local performers and activity providers (artists and community groups) and local food and drink suppliers for the event. Northwich Pride 2026 will reflect our town and our community values.

Organised by Northwich Pride CIO, working in partnership with local stakeholders.

What we'll deliver

  • Education zone (advice, support groups, well-being, community)
  • Celebration stage (performances from local community groups and musicians and artists)
  • Engaging activities that are inclusive and accessible to all
  • Bringing communities together

Why it's a great idea

Education: Pride isn't just about one day. Stalls with relevant support organisations, charities and community groups of relevance to the LGBTQIA+ community, but accessible to the wider Northwich community, including how to get involved.

Celebration: We want pride to reflect our town and our community values. We're aiming to raise funds for a stage with musical and drag performances from local artists and community groups and community stories. Activities running at various points throughout the day in specific locations on the site beyond that of the stalls and stage, including meditation, mindful movement, circus skills, crafts with recycled materials, making bath bombs, making seed bombs.

Inclusion: Everyone is welcome at pride. The site will be wheelchair accessible. We would provide a shelter as a safe space for people to go to if they are over stimulated or just need a break. If finances allow, we would seek to have a BSL interpreter for some or all of the event programme.

Steps to get it done

  • Locking in our event plan and ensuring all vendors and facilities are ready for the big day.
  • Booking local artists, musicians and entertainers to support our event programme.
  • Recruiting volunteers to assist us in delivering our event and community projects.
  • Ensuring the legacy of Northwich Pride and aiming for a BID location in the future.
