“The people at the foodbank were wonderful, they understood and saved us.”
“Without the foodbank, I don’t think I would be here today.”
“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”
Witney and West Oxfordshire Foodbank was founded in 2016 as part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Our work is deeply embedded in, and would not be possible without, the generosity of the local community in and surrounding Witney. Every day, the valuable time of our volunteers and food donations at local supermarkets ensure we are able to provide vital support to those in need.
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. Due to increased demand over the past five years, Witney and West Oxfordshire Foodbank now supports thousands of adults and families every year. We provide at least 3-5 days of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. Clients are referred by professionals working in the community, including, but not limited to, Citizens Advice, doctors/GPs, health and social workers, primary and secondary education professionals.
