This project was funded on 30 May 2022!

We see a lot of designers working & living around us in Tower Hamlets. We also want to be just like them one day. But because we are different, the world does not think we can be designers. We want to change this! We do not want our differences to limit what we can achieve in life. We discovered our passion and purpose in life! We have already started creating amazing designs (as seen in the video). Now we just need to gain meaningful work experience to test out our designs to a live audience. We have 2 choices right now: 1. Wait for an opportunity (which may never come) OR 2. Create an opportunity for ourselves We choose #2! Designed by, and run by us, we want the opportunity to showcase and sell our designs to live customers. This opportunity will help us to achieve our dreams of becoming the best designers in the world because we will receive feedback from live customers. So please help us to achieve our dreams!

What we'll deliver:

  • Host an annual designer showcase & sell event to real live customers.
  • Create meaningful work experience opportunities for neurodiverse young people living in Tower Hamlets.
  • Create employment opportunities for residents in Tower Hamlets.
  • Work with inspiring neurodiverse young people to organise a designer showcase and sell event to a live audience.
  • Host "You Can Design Too" summer programme for neurodiverse children to empower them too.

Why it's a great idea:

The world thinks neurodiverse young people are not capable of doing things. But, we know we can! You have already seen what amazing designs we can create in the video. Supporting this project will give us the opportunity to showcase and sell our designs to live customers. This project will help us gain the skills and confidence to design better. This is because by interacting with live customers, we will be able to understand what our customers want to buy. We will also develop entrepreneurial skills so that we can make our own money and be respected in life. Creating an opportunity where neurodiverse young people can showcase and sell their designs is a brilliant idea because: 1. We can show our family that we can also make money doing what we love. 2. We can show the world that being neurodiverse does not mean we cannot do amazing things. We just need a bit of support at the beginning. 3. We can live happy, healthy and independent lives just like everyone else can.

Steps to get it done:

  • Confirm venue/location of designer showcase (dates/times)
  • Hire all production equipment (lighting and sound)
  • Create marketing material
  • Hire photographer/videographer to showcase neurodiverse designers
  • Hire caterers to provide food
  • Recruit staff and volunteers
  • Select designs by neurodiverse young people that will showcase and sell their designs
  • Create all designs for showcasing and selling
  • Design "You Can Do It Too" workshops for neurodiverse children
  • Contact press to celebrate amazing achievements
  • Promote showcase and sell event through social media channels
  • Create an Eventbrite Page for "You Can Design Too" summer programme

The money raised will cover the start-up costs for the first annual showcasing and selling of designs by neurodiverse designers. All profits generated from the sales of designs will cover costs of future showcasing and selling events. This way more neurodiverse young people will also have the opportunity to showcase and sell to a real live audience too. We did not want to ask for money without offering you some Support Rewards.
