Established by Brian Cresswell in 1974, the Somerset Rural Music School is a non-profit making charity that provides music tuition and activities for children and adults on saturday mornings during the school term, in a relaxed and caring environment. A specific programme is worked out to suit the requirements of individual children or adults who wish to develop or improve their musical skills. It can be vary from one to one tuition to a morning full of activity. We provide one to one tuition with experienced teachers on a range of orchestral instruments:brass, wind, strings, acoustic and electric guitar, ukulele, drums, piano, keyboard, recorders and voice. Lessons usually last for 30 minutes. Students will be encourages to participate in theory and aural classes, and to take Associated Board and Trinity GUildhall practical and theory examinations when appropriate.
Somerset Rural Music School provides opportunities to take part in a wide variety of musical activities: Glee Club, ukuleles, recorders, choir, dance and drama, and musical ensembles.
Art and Crafts is a hugely popular activity which runs thoughout the morning offering planned projects and the chance for spontaneous creative freedom. Watercolour tuition is also available for both adults and children.
