We've set up our CIC to because we're passionate about music for the benefit of emotional, mental and physical health in our local communities.

Ceol Song Music is a group of professional musicians; music workshop facilitators, sound artists, composers and friends from Chichester who have a deep desire to support the social, emotional, and mental wellbeing of our local communities through musical engagement. We hope to use our skills, knowledge, passion and experience to support the wellbeing of our wider communities through projects, performances and sharing events, especially as we begin to emerge from the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Every project and experience that we devise and deliver will hold the wellbeing of our local communities at heart; whether this be the wellbeing of children and young people in our local schools; our elderly; our homeless community; those in end of life care; those whose job it is to care; those isolated from society; those living with debilitating or life threatening illness; those with learning or physical disabilities - where words fail, music speaks.

Ceol Song Music is run by Anna Macken, a HCPC registered music therapist and member of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT). Anna is driven to bring creative and improvisatory music making into schools as a means of supporting the emotional and mental health of children and young people. Alongside her music therapy work Anna is project lead for West Sussex Music Trust's 'Orchestras Inc.'( Orchestras Inc. with Anna Macken ) in which she and her colleagues have been delivering workshops with special schools to support the development of music groups which reflect the personality of the school. It is a privilege to work with the teachers and children in these settings, and it is highly rewarding to see children flourish in music. We would like to take this model of community music-making into mainstream schools and give vulnerable or disadvantaged children in mainstream settings the chance to raise their voice, to feel heard and to express themselves safely in music.
