Stroud Funding offers a launchpad for community-driven ideas to gain support and funding more easily. It enables those who care about their local area and community to get involved – contributing pledges from as little as £2 to help bring inspiring projects to life. You know what your communities need, what works, and what will help shape our district in the future. Stroud Funding gives you the chance to have your say—whether by creating a project, pledging your support, or simply spreading the word. Together, we can build and shape thriving communities across Stroud.
By working together with businesses and local communities we can make ideas a reality through crowdfunding. This will make a real difference and turn our beautiful district into an even better place to live, work, visit.
There is an opportunity to receive a pledge of up to 50% of your project target from Stroud District Council (SDC) (up to a maximum of £10,000) through Stroud Funding, along with pledges from your local community. For example, a project of £3,000 could receive up to £1,500 from SDC.
Current funding window
As part of this programme there are two funding rounds a year, in the Spring and in the Autumn.
The Spring 206 round of this year's programme has now closed. The Autumn round of funding will launch with two online workshops in Early September, with a deadline of the 11th of November to create your project page and be ready to crowdfund on the Spacehive platform. These workshops are a chance to get support and feedback on project ideas as well as learning more about Stroud Funding. Links to register for the workshops will be available soon.
The council crowdfunding team will also be holding two clinics to offer project creators some 1-2-1 time to talk through their project and ask questions. Links to register for the clinics will be available soon.
If you have any questions about the event or accessibility requirements, please email [email protected]
For groups who are not ready to start their crowdfunding campaign now, we will be launching the next round in Spring 2027 . Workshops will be planned for early in the new year with a deadline to have your project ready by mid-May.

Young people in Stroud District secondary schools are facing increasing pressures on their mental and emotional wellbeing. Schools report growing demand for pastoral support, with many students experiencing anxiety, social isolation, behaviour concerns or disengagement from learning. This project will deliver 18 hours per week of experienced youth work across three secondary schools. We'll provide drop-in spaces during breaks, targeted small group work, one-to-one support and issue-based sessions on topics like relationships, mental health and resilience. Youth workers will build trusted relationships with young people over time, offering support that sits alongside but separate from teaching and pastoral staff. All delivery uses our trauma-informed, strengths-based approach with young people's voices at the centre. This programme will benefit 500-750 young people over the year, improving confidence, wellbeing while preventing needs from escalating.
North Nibley currently has only a small playground for pre-school children, leaving older children with nowhere local designed for them to play, climb and spend time together. We are creating a new play area for children aged 6–12 and their families, shaped by ideas gathered through school and community consultation. Phase 1 is now complete. This Spacehive campaign will help fund part of Phase 2, adding the larger multiplay unit, benches and associated installation to expand the facilities. The site is on the village playing field next to the school, making it easy to reach after school, at weekends and during the holidays. It includes Robinia hardwood equipment, grass mat surfacing and hedgehog-friendly access points. This community-led project will create a safe, welcoming place to play, help children be more active, and give families somewhere local to meet, sit and spend time together.
This project seeks to transform Stroud Rugby Club into a more inclusive space by raising funds to install proper wheelchair access. Rugby embodies respect, teamwork, and community spirit, and this initiative will ensure no one is excluded from the matchday excitement due to mobility challenges. By upgrading accessibility, the club will warmly welcome disabled fans, friends and families of players, visiting supporters, and the broader Stroud community. Help us create an environment where everyone can fully experience the joy and camaraderie of rugby, reflecting the diverse and united community we serve.
The Subs is in critical need of a new boiler to ensure the smooth operation of our cherished venue. The Subs has over 100,000 visitors a year. and is central to Subs' community and civic life. Serving around 1,000 square metres of building space, including our two vibrant café/bars, bustling box office, admin office, the George Room, essential toilets, and our iconic ballroom—the heart of performances and events—the boiler has been fundamental to our daily functions. Since the Charitable Trust took over in 2019, around £ 10,000 has been spent on patchwork solutions to prolong its life. Yet, the current boiler is on borrowed time, and its inevitable failure threatens to halt all activities, leaving the community without access to this vital space. Furthermore, a new boiler system will increase our energy efficiency, reduce our bills and our environmental footprint. Help us replace it before winter comes so that we can safeguard the continued running of The Subs.
This project will expand 24/7 access to public defibrillators (AEDs) across Stroud District, focusing on residential and rural areas where current coverage is limited. Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency where every minute without defibrillation survival chances by 10%. Funding will support the installation of 3 publicly accessible AEDs in carefully selected high-need locations identified through our mapping tool and community feedback. Each device will be registered on the national AED network, clearly and made publicly accessible at all times. The project aims to improve survival rates, and strengthen community preparedness by training the community on CPR. It will also support emergency services by improving AED visibility and accessibility. Overall, it will ensure lifesaving equipment is available not only in town centres but also in neighbourhoods and villages across Stroud District, helping to save lives and improve resilience to medical emergencies
