More about our impact
The environment
Local members and village community had a local facility for both indoor and outdoor physical activity which cuts down on transport to facilities further away and families had a great day out locally again saving travelling
The local economy
as club has been busier we have been able to employ more local staff to look after the bar, we have only used local firms to supply us with materials to maintain the greens. All repairs to equipment were done locally, food bought in was always from local companies
Volunteering, jobs & education
Greens were maintained by a team of 10 keen volunteers as they need cutting 6 times each week, and need regular treatments to maintain growth and keep moss down. Also have a team of volunteers who maintain the gardens , and have set up an events committee of volunteers to help organise the family fun day and presentation night plus numerous other events throughout the year
Arts, culture & heritage
club has been in existence for over a 100 years and we did fear that due to declining numbers it would slowly disapear, however with the improved facilities and better events we have attracted more customers, and future is a lot brighter
Activity, health and leisure
we have achieved exactly what we set out to do in this respect as there has been at least one green open for 10 months and an indoor facility for the other two months. With two greens we have been able to establish a calendar of regular social bowling to enable everyone to play in friendly competition without the need to join a formal team, this has led to a considerable increase in participation
