The Grove Neighbourhood Centre (GNC) began life in 1973, born out of a need ro provide assistance and help to residents in the community with housing problems. In 1982 the current purpose built Community Centre was erected, and in 1994 a grant from London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Council enabled a 2nd storey extension to be added. The Centre is now able to provide a wide range of activities and a drop-in support service for the local community .In particular, the GNC supports the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s efforts on isolationism; caring for vulnerable people by providing for a number of activities, in particular through the Friday lunch club and day coach trips; as well as ‘keep fit’, yoga, pilates, art and dance classes; an Iraqi group; Toddlers Playgroups. The Centre also provides on a hire basis two halls and three small rooms for a wide variety of local groups, institutions and individual therapists who provide affordable care.

Commenting on the Centre’s efforts in connection with the COVID-19, Andy Slaughter MP said – “we owe an enormous debt of gratitude to you all.” Similarly, Councillor Vincent Guy, LBHF’s Local Business Champion, commented that “I live a few streets away from the Grove Neighbourhood Centre, and know that you provide enormous support for the local community”.

The Grove Neighbourhood Centre is both a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is managed by a committee drawn from local community, and users, with 4 officers registered at Companies House, elected annually at AGM – all volunteers and non-paid. One of our Committee members is registered partially blind and works with disabled children.
