Carol Singing in Merrilocks Park7 months ago

In December 2024 our planned Carol Concert was cancelled at short notice when Sefton quite rightly closed all the parks due to safety concerns when there was a severe storm weather warning with winds expected over 60mph. But we're back this year and after the successful brass band concert in June the students from St Mary's College and the Preparatory School will be entertaining us with carols and Christmas songs. Community singing is very welcome. We look forward to seeing you there with best wishes for a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy and enjoyable 2026 Derek Parkinson Chairman Friends of Merrilocks Park Management Committee

Hello everyone A reminder that our summer concert in Merrilocks Park with Allerton Brass is just under 3 weeks away, on Sunday 8th June from 2pm - 4pm. We are holding a raffle at the concert to raise funds to help maintain and improve the park and we would be grateful for any donations towards the prizes. Unwanted gifts, bottles, chocolates, biscuits, toiletries etc. would be very welcome. We are aiming to make up 3 or 4 Hampers. If you are able to donate towards the raffle we would appreciate it if you could let us have your donations as soon as possible, either by dropping them off at the Park on Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 3pm , or we would be happy to come and collect them, in which case please email us at [email protected] and we will contact you by email to arrange a collection. We are looking forward to a wonderful afternoon and hope you and your friends and family will be able to join us. with many thanks and best wishes Derek Parkinson Chairperson Friends of Merrilocks Park Management Committee

I hope you are enjoyed the park over the last few weeks with it's lovely display of bluebells and daffodils and now many other plants are just coming into bloom. The concert is only 4 weeks away and I hope you'll be able to join us on the day. Please tell all your friends, family and neighbours about it. We will be holding a raffle to raise funds to continue the development and maintenance of the park and I would be very grateful of any donations towards the prizes. They can be brought to the park any Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 3pm or I can arrange to collect them if you email to [email protected]. Thank you for your continued support.

The Friends of Merrilocks Park Committee look forward to welcoming you to our summer concert to celebrate the completion of the railings installation

The railings are in! Thanks to you all - it's time to celebrate1 year ago

Hello everyone, my name is Derek Parkinson and I’ve taken over as Chairperson of the Friends of Merrilocks Park Committee after Noelle decided to stand down after 6 years leading the group. On behalf of The Friends of Merrilocks Park, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation to our Spacehive campaign, which raised a magnificent total of £9150. Thanks to your support and donations and grants from other individuals and organisations we successfully raised £13,552 and have now reinstated the railings around the park — a fantastic achievement for our community! To celebrate this milestone, we are delighted to invite you, along with your friends and family, to a ‘Picnic in the Park’ concert on Sunday 8th June 2025 from 2pm - 4pm. The award-winning Allerton Brass Band will be performing, and we hope you can join us for what promises to be a wonderful afternoon of live music in the park. There is no charge to attend, but donations towards the continued development and upkeep of the park are always gratefully received. Please remember to bring your own picnic, drinks, chairs, or a picnic rug, as there won’t be any refreshments on sale this time, although there will be a raffle. We look forward to seeing you on the day! If you’re ever in the park and see our volunteers at work, please feel free to stop for a chat—we’d love to say hello. If you’d like to receive updates about future events and ongoing developments in the park, please email [email protected] and we’ll add you to our mailing list. Thank you once again for your generosity and support—we couldn’t have done this without you!

PANELS UPDATE2 years ago

We now only need SIX Panel Railings to complete ALL the Railings around the Park, thanks to 3 very generous donors! Each Panel costs £380. If you would like to 'Help Replace the Merrilocks Park Railings' Campaign by donating a Panel, please contact [email protected] for details. With grateful thanks for your support! Best Wishes, Friends of Merrilocks Park.

MERRILOCKS PARK UPDATE!2 years ago

With your support, the 'Help Replace Merrilocks Park Railings' Spacehive campaign was a great success, and Railings in front of the Merrilocks Road Border are now in place. The Top End Railings are on order, and the Manufacturer is aiming to install them in March. We now have a 'gap' of 10 panels in front of the Serpentine Road North Border. Each panel costs £380. If you would like to contribute towards the cost of a panel and help complete ALL the Railings around the Park, that would be amazing! A metal inscription plate showing the name of the donor could be fixed to individual panels, at an additional cost. Help us to 'close the gap' and get ALL the Railings done! With best wishes, and thanks. Friends of Merrilocks Park.
