The idea
As a sports club without a bar or social facility, we are heavily reliant on holding fundraising events throughout the year for income, as well as collecting match day subs from our junior and senior players. The ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) have said there will be no professional or amateur cricket until at least 1st July, at which point we will have lost half of our normal summer season, and a big chunk of our normal income period.
However, even though we currently have no cricket or events, the Club still has ongoing bills to meet, including insurance & the costs of maintaining our award-winning ground so that we are in a position to resume playing once it is safe to do.
We are looking to raise at least £500 so that Mawdesley Cricket Club remains at the heart of our local community as a space for everyone to enjoy once again after the Covid-19 crisis.
What we'll deliver
- Help pay for critical overheads during the Covid-19 crisis
- Cover ground maintenance and other key running costs.
Why it's a great idea
Our beautiful Rectory Field ground is normally enjoyed by our Senior sides (Mens and Ladies), a vibrant Junior section (from ages 7 to Under 18s), weekly Visually Impaired cricket sessions, local primary schools, district squads and many more groups throughout a normal summer.
We want to ensure that our great facility will be in the best possible shape to be enjoyed once again after the restrictions are lifted and it is safe to return to playing.
Steps to get it done
- Run crowdfunding campaign to collect funds
- Pay for essential overheads
