The idea
What we will deliver:
12 weeks of 'Active Resilience' coaching for local children.
12 guided wellbeing workshops for parents.
360 healthy family meals to foster community and reduce financial pressure.
A 'Mental Health Toolkit' for every family to take home, featuring local resources and coping strategies.
Each session follows a "Split & Connect" model
The First 60 Mins (The Split):
Children (ages 7–12) take part in "Active Resilience" games—fun, non-competitive physical activities designed to build confidence and teamwork.
Parents/Carers join a "Stress-Less" workshop. These are peer-support sessions facilitated by local partners covering topics like managing family anxiety, sleep hygiene, and "parental burnout."
The Final 30 Mins (The Connect):
In the Social Area: Families reunite for a Communal Meal. We provide a simple, healthy hot meal. This tackles food poverty, reduces the "tea-time stress" for parents, and allows families to talk about what they learned in the session.
What we'll deliver
- 2 sets of 12 weeks mental fitness sessions for parents
- 2 sets of 12 weeks active resilience workshops for childre
- 24 weeks of family meals
Why it's a great idea
The project will encourage mental fitness, physical health, and community connection.
Breaking Stigma: By hosting sessions at Margate FC, we move mental health support from clinical settings to a familiar, local hub. This reaches families who might otherwise shy away from traditional interventions.
Resilient Households: While children build confidence through "Active Resilience" games on the 3G pitch, parents gain vital coping tools in professional workshops. This "whole-family" approach ensures that positive emotional changes are carried back into the home.
Social Cohesion: Shared meals in the clubhouse tackle local food poverty and isolation. We replace "tea-time stress" with communal support, building a lasting peer-to-peer network in Margate.
Health Outcomes: We directly combat Thanet’s health inequalities by offering physical activity and providing professional signposting in a safe, non-judgmental space.
We aren't just coaching football; we’re coaching families to thrive.
