The idea
We are confident of reappearance of last years flowers and the shrubs have over wintered well with insignificant losses. Our hope is to receive aid from Veolia in the form of 700 kilos compost to upgrade our soil and sustain healthy plant growth. Last years efforts encouraged bees, butterflys and wild birds to come visit, things we had never seen in our square before.
What we'll deliver
- Spread at least 700 kilos compost made from reclaimed materials
Why it's a great idea
All 180 households benefit from a beautiful display of colour, respect for the the work and lovely results is gradually bringing our whole four squares community together and this year we have been able to supply seeds from our stocks to benefit other communal areas on the estate.
Steps to get it done
- get compost
The planters are all located in the sheltered housing unit. Our plans this year include provision of a new rose garden and planting, spreading, weeding services hopefully will be financed by Cleaner Greener Safer, however provision of soil enrichment will only help the planters mature and improve in the years to come. The planters are overlooked by most residents on upper floors and those residents at the same level always welcome to come and admire them.
