We’re really pleased to be joined by “We Are Farming Minds” and “Shropshire Rural Support” at our singing workshop. They’ll be with us to talk about men’s wellbeing in the farming community — because looking after mental health matters just as much as physical health.

Voices Raised for Health and Harmony in Ludlow10 months ago

Ludlow Male Voice Choir hit all the right notes on Saturday with their first free singing workshop, Together We Sing. More than 25 men joined the choir for an afternoon of music-making, supported by around 20 friends and family. Some were seasoned singers, others were stepping up to sing in public for the very first time. Together, they learned two songs, the first in two-part harmony – the upbeat "Spread a Little Happiness" followed by a four-part harmony version of "What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor.' Guest speaker Professor Noel W. Clarke, a leading expert in men’s health and prostate cancer, gave two engaging talks that were warmly received and sparked lively discussion. The event, funded through the choir’s recent community-backed crowdfunding campaign, is part of their 20th anniversary drive to get more men singing, highlight the health benefits of singing, and raise awareness of prostate cancer. A representative from Prostate Cancer UK also attended, and several new singers have already said they’ll be back for rehearsals. The choir’s next big event is a charity concert at the prestigious Stokesay Court on Saturday 27th September at 7:00 pm, raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
