About the Project Creator
Escape - Creating Community Wellbeing
For over 20 years Escape has developed a diverse programme of creative and heritage-led health and wellbeing workshops, both in Stratford and Nuneaton, as well as across Warwickshire. Part of Escape’s success is using this creativity to engage and celebrate stories of people, place and time in an exciting, empowering way. Escape brings people and communities together to share and learn across the generations, our youngest members being just 6 month olds and our eldest who is 99.
The home of Escape is the Grade ll listed ‘Old Slaughterhouse Community Heritage & Arts Centre’ in Stratford-upon-Avon. The charity rescued this fascinating building from dereliction in 2014. Now it is a vibrant community venue, offering a range of regular Escape arts, heritage and social activities.
Escape has a sister project in Nuneaton, based at Chilver’s Coton Heritage Centre that coordinates work across North Warwickshire.
Escape is a recipient of the Queens Award for Volunteering, Stratford Educators of year Award 2018 and hold NHS Quality for Health accrediation.
