A 6 month course to give post cancer treatment individuals in the local area a place to learn how to regain the lives they had before cancer. Strength and confidence sessions twice a week.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
'Momentum' is a 6 month, two session a week program designed to show post cancer treatment individuals that they are not fragile. They have more strength and resilience than they think and to show them what they have been through is in the past, they just need help believing it. Many are unable to return to work immediately and then often only on a part time basis so we don't want cost to be a barrier to entry. I hope to fund the course for the full 6 months so they don't stretch themselves financially and add to the stress of getting their lives back on track.

Why it's a great idea:
I see people who have been through such a harsh, harrowing and extremely scary time in their lives and have been left feeling extremely fragile and vulnerable physically, mentally and emotionaly with a fear that any physical exercise could cause them harm. My purpose is to show them that they are stronger than they think they are, guide them through specific movements to prove it. These are more than just exercise classes, they are designed to give each individual the opportunity to take back control of their lives. They are not as fragile as they think they are, they just need help believing it.

VolunteerMy name is Dan Spinks and I am a strength and movement coach with over 13 years experience of working with people of all ages and abilities. I have been working with local Maggies Cancer Support Centre in Swansea delivering weekly movement sessions at the centre for groups of post cancer treatment individuals as part of their 'Where Now?' program.
I see people who have been through such a harsh, harrowing and extremely scary time in their lives and have been left feeling extremely fragile and vulnerable, physically, mentally and emotionaly with a fear that any physical exercise could cause them harm.
