More about our impact
The environment
So farwe have put bug hotels and birdfeeders within our allotment space, several butterlies have been seen. We have a water butt but unforteunatley theres been no rain to fill it. We have vegetables growing in our space and theya re thriving. We have a sensory space , with sensory plants and herbs and windchimes. Its very calming and the children love to go in there and have story or smell the plants.
The local economy
When the food has grown fully people will be able to access the food and save money
Volunteering, jobs & education
So far the children are learning about growing and nature. We have had 10 volunteer applicants, from Voluntary action Leicester, but we need to make sure they have DBS vetting before they can join us and that takes time. As the allotment is in its infancy we are still looking to create more opportunities for workshop[s and training ,

Activity, health and leisure
Gardening Workouts – Digging, planting, weeding, and watering provide low-impact exercise. Encouraging Outdoor Time – Promotes movement in fresh air rather than sedentary indoor activities. Accessible for All Ages – Both children and older adults can engage in light or moderate activity. Community Gatherings – A space for people to meet, socialise, and build friendships. Workshops & Events – Can host gardening clubs, eco-friendly workshops, or cooking classes. Relaxation Spaces – Seating areas for people to unwind, read, or enjoy nature. Educational Fun for Children – Kids can learn about nature through hands-on activities. Intergenerational Bonding – Encourages older and younger generations to garden together. Mindfulness & Relaxation – Being in nature reduces stress, anxiety, and depression. We are hoping to have a dedicated space in the allotment for mindfulness
