More about our impact
The environment
Our forest craft sessions encouraged young people to explore and appreciate the natural world. Many had their first experience of making something with natural materials, learning how to respect the spaces we use and leave them better than we found them. We also prioritised local trips and venues where possible, cutting down on long travel and supporting sustainable choices.
The local economy
By using local venues like Go Bananas in Stroud, Lake 12 in South Cerney, and hiring local coaches, we’ve invested directly in nearby businesses. Our trips, workshops, and catering have all been sourced from within the region, keeping funds circulating in our own community and supporting jobs close to home.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We’ve grown our volunteer team from 8 to 13 — giving more local people the chance to develop youth work skills and gain valuable experience. Five young people completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award by volunteering with us, and three staff members have enrolled in nationally recognised youth work qualifications (Levels 2 & 3). These experiences will benefit not only the youth club, but the wider community for years to come.
Arts, culture & heritage
Our graffiti art workshops have given young people a creative outlet to explore identity, teamwork, and self-expression in a positive way. These projects have brightened our club space and helped participants take pride in creating something lasting for the community to enjoy. Alongside that, sports, cookery, and games have become part of a shared cultural experience at the club — building a sense of belonging and shared memory in Minchinhampton’s younger generation.
Activity, health and leisure
From football and dodgeball to kayaking and climbing at Lake 12, we’ve encouraged physical activity every week. Cooking sessions have also built healthy eating skills that last beyond the club.
