Bringing dynamic friendly flamenco in five workshops to more Lancashire locations, it's our aim to give people a chance to play flamenco in five minutes, with world class guitarist Scott Robertson.
We have a collection of right and left handed classical guitars and a great passion for the instrument. Just 5 minutes is all we need, to teach people a touch of flamenco. Through sharing our knowledge and love of the guitar - we can give people space and time to develop their own love of the instrument - be that for mental wellbeing, pleasure or profession. We're partnered with groups who can help fund lessons & guitars for individuals who may not be able to afford to buy their own guitar. We've a proven track record in creating lively, welcoming, warm and exciting workshops - our first spacehive allowed us to play in libraries, campfires and allotments. We want to take our flamenco sessions to East Lancashire Pop-Up Markets, libraries & also Lomeshaye's Shipping Containter performance space. We always attract a great crowd! Flamenco brings people together and our conversations lead to so much more. We can now offer different levels of session too - from beginner to masterclasses!

Why it's a great idea:
Hundreds of people benefited from our last Spacehive. Around 370 in total. We now, more than ever, want to collaborate to understand our world. Our project combines the best of new connections to make this happen including International Public Space architect UCLAN Super Slow Way, along with Lancashire Libraries, Music For All, PRS & us - we know how signposting cultural opportunities effectively & inclusively - is essential to improving physical & mental wellbeing for diverse communities. We deliver our Library Partner's Universal Offers (reading, health/wellbeing, digital/information & culture/creativity) by tapping into existing structures efficiently - presenting our events in the library network; we refer people to library resources (sheet music/digital platforms/groups), we experience the health benefits of a safe friendly space & we include everyone digitally too.
Steps to get it done:
Our precious Spacehive has been so successful. We've played at takeaway locations, in allotments, in libraries, in fields, in shipping containers. We've had one participant secure a busking licence. We have sourced 2 guitars & 1 flute for participants. We are inundated with requests to do more locations. We are desperate to get out to more communities!!

VolunteerWe have a proven track record in East Lanashire, running lovely Flamenco sessions - free, and open to the whole community. I'm a profesisonal Spanish guitarist, born in East Lancashire. I thought I'd never make it as a guitarist, as I've had so many barriers to overcome in the classical guitar world - economically and socially. Highlights include playing at The Royal Albert Hall London, and also headling the Manchester International Spanish festival. I'm passionate to share my knowledge of the guitar and also the routes in for people - whether that be for wellbeing or for a profession. So many people don't get the chance to play - because of financial or emotional or social barriers.
With my partners - Arts Council, PRS and Music for All, I have the connections to help people - not only find time to play - but also sourcing instruments and lessons - for free.
