The idea

Join us for a transformative eight week well-being project designed for individuals aged 18 to 100, hosted at Tamworth SDA Church. This engaging programme combines the uplifting power of gospel singing with creative craft activities, exploring the universal themes of joy, hope and harmony, igniting creativity, and strengthening social connections. Through a warm and inclusive environment, participants will explore the joy of music and artistry while building meaningful relationships within the community. Each week participants will rehearse with a community choir leader and collaborate with a local textile expert, a fused glass expert and a natural beauty consultant. The participants will create vibrant scarves under the guidance of the textile artist. These scarves will be worn by the choir members during the concert. No prior experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm and an open mind as we embark on this journey of expression, connection, and personal growth.

What we'll deliver

  • 8 weekly gospel choir rehearsals and voice training with a community choir leader
  • 8 craft workshops , 4 textile workshops, 4 natural beauty products.
  • Individual tie and dye scarves created by participants and worn by choir members during the concert.
  • A joyful gospel concert open to the community.
  • Display of all well being/ nature crafts during the final event.
  • Refreshments and materials provided for all sessions.
  • A warm, inclusive environment for up to 15 local adults.
  • A website for the choir depicting our journey and plans for the future.
  • 5 sessions of a well being craft workshop.

Why it's a great idea

This project will uplift individuals and strengthen community bonds by promoting creativity, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. Singing together and working with textiles, fused glass and natural beauty products will help people feel less isolated while expressing personal stories around joy, hope and harmony.
Participants will learn new creative and heritage craft skills, connect with others across backgrounds and contribute to a meaningful public event. The scarves worn by the choir members will provide tangible, beautiful symbols of healing, unity and shared creativity.
The shared experiences we create will have ripple effects beyond the project, sparking friendships and future creative initiatives in Tamworth.
