At Jennings Community Boxing Academy, affectionately known as Jennings Gym, we believe in the transformative power of boxing – not just as a sport, but as a force for good in our community. Established in 2013 by ex-professional boxer Michael Jennings and professional coach David Jennings, our roots are firmly planted in the local area of Coppull, Lancashire. What began as a dedicated boxing gym has organically grown into a vital community hub, reflecting our dual commitment to both athletic excellence and public wellbeing.
Our core mission is to promote the health and wellbeing of our service users, while also fostering the coaching and professional progression of aspiring boxers. We deliver this through high-quality professional coaching, engaging community fitness classes, and targeted youth programmes. We're particularly passionate about reaching those who face significant challenges, including young people referred by local schools, often grappling with emotional or social difficulties, as well as adults participating in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programmes, and service veterans. Our doors are open to the wider community too, through our popular mixed-ability fitness sessions.
We pride ourselves on offering an holistic approach to boxing, extending beyond the ring to cultivate healthier lifestyles, improved mental wellbeing, and essential life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Our journey, which saw us gain registered charity status in 2023 and relocate twice due to increasing demand, showcases our dedication and the genuine need for the services we provide. We're deeply embedded in our community, with strong links to local schools and services, ensuring our efforts truly make a difference where it's needed most. We are committed to ensuring boxing is accessible and beneficial for everybody, regardless of their background or circumstance.
