By Spring Education Society (SES)
For the adaptation process for asylum seekers and refugees in Leicester, we create a project based on providing online educational and informative platforms as they are able to improve their English.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
There are thousands of refugees and asylum seekers living in Leicester moreover, they used to occupy as engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc. in their own countries still could not get involved into the social and business life in Leicester. This might be the result of lack of English and poor job-hunting skills. To provide a solution Spring Education Society is planning to provide intermediate and advanced level online English courses. In addition, Asylum seekers and Refugees will also be supported by being offered free career advice sessions and legal advice regarding their claims. Those who are mentioned above have a great potential to put value in Leicester society in this regards supported people will be grateful to society. There is no doubt that today’s high qualified refugees will not forget about the great support of Leicesters’ mayor and society when they are able to do their professional work as they used to be doctors, engineers, teacher and so on.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
After carefully considering refugee and asylum seekers high profiles it encouraged our charity to provide them with online English courses and career advice sessions because we strongly believe that an asylum seeker/refugee who has adapted well to the UK will be able to contribute to society as many of them well educated and highly capable. One of the benefits from this project is that if an asylum seeker/ refugee is confident in English and know how to job hunt they will not require financial support from the government nor society. Thus, this project can have a significant impact in resolving their adaptation and unemployment. In addition to this, it could save financial sources provided by the government by reducing people to rely on benefits. In conclusion, if these individuals are given the opportunity to improve their language skills and obtain career advice, they will probably be able to start suitable positions and continue to develop within their career.
Steps to get it done:
There is no doubt that the adaptation of starting a new life or living in a different society is complicated bringing its owns challenges. This is particularly applicable for asylum seekers/refugees for instance, traffic rules, different language, different foods, legal issues, social life, abiding by a different law, and so on. Due to the challenges caused many people may fail to survive and adapt to the way of life in the UK. To illustrate this, according to our interviews with asylum seekers/refugees, because of their lack of English they were not able to obtain a full UK driving licence even if they were professional and experienced drivers in their home country prior to coming to the UK. Additionally, these individuals may be unaware of the process involved in obtaining a driving license, taking a theory and driving test, buying a car and starting an insurance policy etc. As we agreed, SES will provide online courses and also hire experts to guide people in their job-hunting proce
