More about our impact

More about our impact

The environment

The environment

We help the event in an accessible location in the centre of town which allowed people to walk or catch public transport which reduced the carbon footprint that might have occurred if we had held it in another, less accessible venue.

The local economy

The local economy

The event brough a lot of people into the town centre which will have benefitted a lot of local cafes, restaurants and other venues. We also had 7 traders at the event serving food, refreshments and other items

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

To stage the event we rely heavily on volunteers. We have an organising committee of 10 people who spend 11 months planning and fundraising for the event

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

The event is specifically staged to celebrate Irish culture and heritage and we have musicians, performers and a chance to play Gaelic football. We try and cater for all tastes and the event helps encourage people to participate in these pastimes, which helps sustains numbers in the different groups that are involved in the event.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

All the participants in the event look forward to it taking place every year and they can spend months preparing to take part. The dancing groups will spend months practising their programme and the Irish dancers have a wide age range in the groups. This encourages young people to be active which is good for their physical and mental health.
