On behalf of the footballers of Ellesmere Port I have written a book on it's 140-year history that I am keen to get published. In recent years I have written six other sell-out books on the history of Ellesmere Port; my name is Celia Webber and Vauxhall Motors Football Club, equally keen to have their story told, have kindly offered to help me in this venture.
Following on from the success of the old Ellesmere Port Town Football Club over decades, " Vauxhall Motors FC is Ellesmere Port's most successful football club of recent decades and their glory days include a famous night out in London when they pulled off an FA Cup giant-killing win against Queens Park Rangers."
The Club was formed in 1963 when the car giant commenced manufacture here in the Port. Initially they played in the Ellesmere Port League on part of the manufacturing site, the airfield ground, but when Vauxhall Motors Sports and Social Club (a separate entity to their parent company) became owners of 23 acres of farmland, Rivacre Park, they moved across to join them in 1987.
2022/23 season saw the Motormen winning the Premier Division championship and being promoted to Division One West of the Northern Premier League.
They continue their parent company's 'Schools of Excellence' ethos and now, weekly, train 600 youngsters in the art of football.
The team badge is the same as the logo of its parent company, Vauxhall Motors.
Rivacre Park Stadium has a capacity of 3,300 with covered stand and terracing, with space for 350 seated guests.. The ground also has a large sports and social club. This was originally for employees of the Vauxhall plant but is also open to the public on match days etc.
The Club is classed as a 'Community Standard Charter Club'.
