Barnet Education Arts Trust (BEAT) is an independent Charitable incorporated organisation and the lead organisation of the Barnet Music Hub. BEAT provides opportunities in music education for young people in Barnet. BEAT provides skilled music teachers to schools, as well as working closely with schools and other partner organisations to support the provision of high quality music education, as well as supporting ensemble music through regular group music centres.
BEAT currently teaches in excess of 7500 children and young people each week to play instruments at schools in the borough. It also operates three music centres where around 350 young people come together to play in bands and orchestras at our Music Academies in Hendon, East Barnet and Mill Hill. These are weekly sessions bringing together children of all ages who play a wide range of instruments.
School children in Barnet receive tuition from BEAT either at school or at our Music Academies. BEAT also runs choirs, and provides opportunities for children to perform together regularly. Alongside this, it runs a satellite consortium course in the north of the borough to support A level music teaching in preparation for examinations in the student's own schools.
