The idea
Help us revitalise our more tired instruments! Your donation will mean so much for our brilliant students. The Barnet community benefits enormously from BEAT's varied and exciting musical opportunities. We at BEAT feel strongly that repairing our old instruments will help new learners especially - not to mention our more disadvantaged Pupil Premium students who get to hire instruments for free. For them, a refitted violin neck, new clarinet pads, cello bow repair or dented trumpet would make a huge difference. It would also give our more advanced players renewed pride. They simply couldn't reach their musical potential hindered by squeaks, dents or old strings.
Our students benefit enormously from the discipline, teamwork and resilience developed through music education. These life skills extend beyond just learning notes and melodies. They prepare students so well for future life challenges. Music and a shared love of music helps local communities thrive.

Why it's a great idea
- Access to well-maintained instruments for our young people, whether one to one tuition or whole class teaching.
- A better learning experience for enhancing students' musical skills.
- Reliability! Less squeaks and out of tune playing even for those with more advanced abilities.
- Performances sound even better! Whether orchestral, solo playing or jazz or rock bands.
- An even greater sense of pride for individual players when performing for others.
- Repairing and maintaining instruments by skilled instrument technicians makes good financial sense in the long term because it will extend the period that the instrument remains useable - rather than having to buy completely new more expensive sets of instruments.
- This initiative will make for an even more diverse local music scene across Barnet because our students so often go on to perform at other gigs and concerts after they leave school.
All in all, this fundraising will make for even more harmonious BEAT music making!
