Barnesbury Cycling Club was formed in 1923, we are one of the oldest cycling clubs in North East England.
We are a British Cycling affiliated Go-Ride Accredited Club. We currently provide Cycling Activity across Road, Mountain Bike, Cyclo-Cross and BMX Racing disciplines, with all except Road based at Gallagher Park, off Schalksmuhle Road, Bedlington, NE22 5PB. Our British Cycling affiliation covers us for insurance purposes for incidents on the BMX Track or during Club based activities via their Insurance Policy.
We are volunteer led and work closely with British Cycling to ensure we maintain the highest standards throughout Coaching & Competition, Safeguarding, Environment and Development. We provide our services for the people of Northumberland and Tyne & Wear without exception, we are an inclusive club who welcome newcomers of any age, gender or race across our disciplines and British Cycling’s Go-Ride Status backs up our commitment to offering activities from grassroots level and upwards.
We have riders who participate simply for the benefits of recreational cycling, e.g. regular exercise, being sociable, fitness, health and well-being and we have riders who also compete in Club Races, Regional’s and National’s in their chosen discipline and we currently have a 10 Year Lease for the BMX Track in Gallagher Park, which we have upgraded significantly to Regional Standard, in order to help provide a higher standard of facility for coaching, race events and general use by the club and members of the public from local towns and communities.
