The idea
The existing building is a single breeze block, which was originally built to provide changing facilities for Hartford Junior Football Club. It is divided into 3 spaces (Home, Away and Referee changing rooms) with toilets and showers. The building hasn't been in use since 2017 and has fallen into disrepair. This project will remodel the building into 3 workshop spaces with communal utility room and toilets. It will be fully accessible. The internal walls will be insulated to reduce energy use with the potential to add solar panel if funding is available in the future.

Why it's a great idea
This exciting project will bring back into use a community building by local residents. There is a shortage of activity space where 'messy' activities can be undertaken in the village. Things like cycle repair workshops, allotment holders tool storage and bird box making workshops for example.
HPC decided it wanted the building to be fully accessible and refurbished to the highest eco standards so the costs involved are beyond that available within existing Council budgets.
The refurbished building will be a hub for community activity as we come out of the pandemic (hopefully!) and will encourage greater participation by residents in community activities.
