More about our impact

The environment

The environment

Our project has helped the environment by creating a biodiverse, sustainable garden that educates and engages the community in eco-friendly practices. By integrating natural water cleaning systems, composting areas, and renewable energy installations, we have reduced waste and promoted resource efficiency. The garden's diverse plantings will continue to improve air quality and provide habitats for local wildlife, enhancing biodiversity. Educational workshops and hands-on activities held so far have taught students about sustainable agriculture, composting, and biodiversity, fostering environmental literacy and stewardship. By empowering students to take active roles in environmental conservation, we have begun to create a ripple effect, eventually influencing families and the wider community to adopt greener habits and contribute to broader environmental sustainability. Creating a sustainable model for the future of the forest school provision for children through training for staff has enhanced our curriculum offer and will teach children about the power of learning outside. It has also had a positive impact on the mental health and Wellbeing of our children and adults.

The local economy

The local economy

Working together with local tradespeople and Grow-Wellbeing, a CIC working with young people across the local area, has ensured that the money spent on training staff is retained within the local area and will enable more young people to be able to access wonderful outdoor learning opportunities.

Volunteering, jobs & education

Volunteering, jobs & education

Our project increased volunteering, jobs, and education by actively involving the PTA team, volunteers, and parents in the garden's development and maintenance. The creation and upkeep of the garden will require continuous volunteer efforts, fostering a strong sense of community engagement and collaboration. Educational workshops and activities provided hands-on learning experiences for students, enhancing their environmental literacy and practical skills. The project also offered opportunities for local educators to develop and lead new programmes, integrating environmental education into the curriculum. Additionally, the garden may create part-time job opportunities for maintenance, workshop facilitation, and coordination of community events. in the future. By involving parents and the broader community, we will continue to cultivate a culture of volunteering and lifelong learning, strengthening community bonds and promoting shared responsibility for environmental stewardship.

Arts, culture & heritage

Arts, culture & heritage

Our project supported arts, culture, and heritage by integrating artistic elements into the garden's design. Collaborating with a local artist, the garden itself reflects our community's heritage and diversity. It features artistic layouts, pathways, and planting schemes celebrating local traditions. Workshops have taughtcrafts and cultural practices, engaging students and community members in preserving our heritage. The garden will continue to serve as a living gallery, showcasing nature and our community's story, while promoting local ecological knowledge. This blend of education, arts, and culture fosters appreciation for our heritage, strengthening community identity.

Activity, health and leisure

Activity, health and leisure

Our project has and will continue to promote activity and leisure, as the forest school area iis now transformed nto a dynamic community space. The garden's design includes pathways and recreational areas that encourage physical activity and outdoor leisure. Families and community members can enjoy leisurely walks, picnics, and gatherings in a serene, natural setting. Educational workshops and events will offer engaging activities for all ages, from gardening and wildlife observation to arts and cultural activities. The garden provides a safe and accessible environment for relaxation and recreation, fostering a sense of well-being and community connection. By promoting active lifestyles and leisure activities in a natural setting, our project has begun to enhance the overall quality of life for individuals and families in our community.
