The idea
We’re building H&F’s first Green Action Hub — a digital platform that connects residents, communities, and local businesses to green jobs, volunteering opportunities, mentorship, training, and climate-related events. Based in H&F, this project is urgently needed to make the borough’s growing green economy more visible, inclusive, and accessible to everyone. Many residents — especially young people and excluded groups — want to act on climate but don’t know where to start.
We’ll create a one-stop digital hub featuring a green opportunities board, a borough-wide events calendar, and inspiring local stories. Alongside this, we’ll host monthly events across H&F to help people get involved in practical ways.
This project will bridge the gap between intention and action, support grassroots initiatives, and position H&F as a borough-wide climate leader. It’s led by The Green Londoner, a local community media platform, in partnership with local organisers, venues, and residents.
What we'll deliver
- 300+ green jobs, volunteering and training opportunities shared and promoted across the borough.
- Hundreds of local events and initiatives shared on the platform
- 10,000+ residents reached via digital content
- 750+ residents engaged in-person
- 12 public events organised across 12 months
Why it's a great idea
H&F’s Green Action Hub will make the green transition visible, local, and inclusive. It will connect residents with real opportunities — whether they want to volunteer, find a green job, connect with a mentor to explore a specific climate sector, attend a climate event, or simply learn something new. By centralising all this in one easy-to-access platform, we’ll remove barriers to participation and help people take action where they live.
The key benefits:
🌱 Empower residents to get involved in climate action — especially young people and those feeling excluded.
💼 Support careers and training in the growing green economy by promoting local jobs, internships, mentoring and volunteering roles.
🤝 Strengthen community connections through shared events, workshops, and local stories.
📣 Boost visibility for grassroots groups, eco-businesses, and community projects that often go unseen.
🌍 Position H&F as a borough leader in local climate action — inspiring other areas to follow.
