The idea
Never has there been a time where we need to come together to help each other out.
Give...a few words aims to do this by spreading a little cheer through the power of letters. This volunteer run project helps to reduce isolation through words, art and kindness.
Some people (in care homes, charities, and other organisations) are feeling extremely isolated at this time, so Give...will arrange for at least 2 positive personalised letters, a charity Christmas Card and small gift (mini notebook with some of the positive letters/drawings) to go to each person in the care homes and charities that Give is working with.
All volunteer letter writers, will receive a letter pack to start writing and a copy of the mini notebook.
3 Red post boxes will be featured across Kirklees (Huddersfield/Dewsbury and Batley) to collect the letters.
Any extra contributions will allow the project to continue into 2021.
What we'll deliver
- 3 red post boxes on display in a variety of settings in Kirklees
- 300 volunteer letter packs for all volunteer letter writers, 1 workshop for writers and 1 Christmas Card
- A Christmas card, letter & small gift for each recipient in a care home, charity, organisation that Give is working with
- 1 volunteer letter writing workshop
Why it's a great idea
The project helps in so many ways!
It spreads kindness across the whole community.
It helps us feel more connected.
People receiving letters are thrilled to receive letters from strangers who selflessly write with nothing expected in return. Many keep the letters to read again and again.
People writing are part of a newly formed letter writing community which focuses on some of the positives at this time. Families are able to get involved, people with disabilities, people unable to volunteer or work at the moment, anyone.
It also connects a range of people from all sectors together for a common interest, volunteers, charities, businesses, educational settings.
Steps to get it done

- Purchase 3 red letter boxes and 3 cardboard life size post boxes
- Purchase Christmas Cards
- Mini books(designed and printed)
