The idea
The effects of COVID have been felt by all members of the community not just by those who have suffered directly from the virus but also in indirect ways when trying to protect everyone. Those that have been required to shield, including the elderly and clinically vulnerable may have symptoms of anxiety or other mental health issues created from isolation and the possibilities of many health related problems caused by inactivity during lockdown is currently unmeasurable and can affect any age. If funding is granted the project aims to offer fun healthy fitness aimed and tailored to people of all ages and abilities at times throughout the day to enable as many people as possible the opportunity to participate.
*We are awaiting confirmation from the park to be able to run sessions there, and expect to have this confirmed during the campaign. No funds will be transferred to the project until this permission is confirmed.*
What we'll deliver
- Improve mental health through social stimulation which should help reduce the pressures on local mental health services
- Improve health and fitness and reduce the effects of inactivity which will help reduce the pressures on local services
- Possibility of reducing antisocial behaviour by giving younger people an outlet to burn of energy through activities
- Possibility of creating a cohesive and supportive community bringing together all age and abilities to enjoy activities.
Why it's a great idea
The project will aim to help people recover from the complications that the pandemic has created. Getting people together in a safe and supervised way to participate in a programme of get fit activities to suit all age and abilities will aid in reversing the damage to individuals mental health through healthy social interactions. The activities will also aim to help reduce obesity in all individuals and advice on nutrition can be given to further help people take back control of their health and lives.
Ensuring that the activities and sessions are suited to all abilities and age groups will have the added benefit of brining together the wider community in a way that normally does not happen and the activities cost free to all participants will make sure that no-one in the community is excluded.
The greater the funding, the more days and sessions that can be created and the more people that can be reached and allowed to participate.
Steps to get it done
