More about our impact
The environment
To create the art, carbon-eating paint was used which removes carbon from the air and we had community workshops throughout the project to create art and educate locals on ways to improve their city and support a better, cleaner environment. Additionally, the crew from the Art Protest Projects working on the art were all accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project and made sure that the murals and art were all produced in a environmentally friendly manner.
The local economy
Art projects like this can attract thousands of people from all over, especially if there is an interest for a specific aritst. The AOP made sure to work with a good mix of different artists. Plus, when people do the trail they will also be discovering businesses and venues which they will hopefully visit to get some food, shopping, etc.
Volunteering, jobs & education
Community engagement sessions and art workshops took place to communicate the Future Walls project, various artists were appointed to complete the art pieces and AOP worked closely with local artists, creatives, partners and local schools to establish different aspects of the art.
Arts, culture & heritage
Members of the public were invited to attend workshops and organised talks and forums around what art is and how it affects and enhances culture. In addition, the artworks erected on buildings will produce a legacy for the future, providing engagement with the art and promoting ownership of the area by its residents.
Activity, health and leisure
The project has gotten people to leave their homes to take part in creative workshops and to complete the art trail, combining a phyiscal and mental experience for residents and visitors. Plus, activity took place for the creation of the murals.
