The idea
By providing reusable party kits and expanding community refill hubs, we estimate residents could avoid hundreds of tonnes of single-use plastic from everyday household items and celebrations each year, helping to prevent CO₂ emissions associated with production, transport and disposal.
Our project builds on proven demand from the Plastic Free Cheshire Party Kit and our reusable hire scheme. Party Kits include reusable plates, cups, bowls, cutlery and jugs for up to 50 people and are booked online via our website and Square Full Circle shop. Our reusables are already used at Chester Repair Café, Chester Food & Drink Festival and local community events. Community Refill Hubs offer refillable household and personal care products, reuse services and low-waste advice, with refill and reuse available through our website and Square shop. Together, these schemes make reuse easy and accessible.

This project will create lasting environmental, social and economic benefits for communities across Chester and Cheshire West. By replacing single-use party items with reusable alternatives and expanding access to refill options, the project will reduce plastic waste and the carbon emissions linked to manufacturing, transport and disposal.
Families will benefit from affordable, practical options that make sustainable choices easier and more accessible, helping to normalise reuse and refilling in everyday life. Children will gain confidence and understanding through positive, hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and care for the environment, supporting long-term behaviour change within households.
The project will also strengthen community connections by bringing people together through events, workshops and shared resources. New refill hubs will provide ongoing local infrastructure that supports sustainable living beyond the life of the project.
