The idea
Our project is aimed at changing the current layout of our public toilet and making it more accessible to every one of our beneficiaries.
This would include widening the doors to allow for wheelchair access, removal of a partition wall to make the space bigger and give us the opportunity to make the space more usable.
We would like to add a comfort height toilet with an easy flush, a sink with mixer taps to prevent scalding, high visibility grab rails, sensor lighting, anti-slip floor and a system to highlight if someone requires assistance.
This would ensure that our beneficiaries that utilise our building are provided with the added aspect of our building being more user-friendly.
What we'll deliver
- Disability friendly bathroom area
- New safer flooring
- Safety aspects
Why it's a great idea
Doncaster Alcohol Services/Sober Social provides the community of Doncaster a safe space to visit throughout the week, with an array of free activities to become involved with. If we are successful in making these adaptions to our building this would bring in more beneficiaries, it would increase the donations raised and enable us to provide more free/subsidized activities.
Steps to get it done
