Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

I loved Fashion all the way until I had to get into the fashion industry. I always felt that there is more to fashion than just business for me it is a way of artistic expression. When I was little I never ran out of creativity and fashion was always my great passion, unfortunately despite my hard work I never felt truly represented in the fashion world . That struggle to fit into such a limited world lead to the creation of this project. Opening up the Fashion world and make it accessible to everyone. I want to promote creativity and bring people together through their love for fashion, getting our local community involved in creating their own collection and sharing their views with the world. Through a series of workshops, exercises and creative prompts I aim to help individuals to develop their ideas all the way into realisation in a fun and welcoming space whilst collaborating with young designers and giving them a safe and creative environment to gain work experience.

What we'll deliver:

  • Provide access to free fashion design workshops and lessons to a group of people from our local community.
  • Equip the group with the necessary skills to be able to create and produce a small collection.
  • Showcase the work through a catwalk show and exhibition both physically and digital.

Why it's a great idea:

This project will be accessible by anyone that shares an interest in fashion but will try to focus more on the youth and young adult population of Hammersmith and Fulham. The aim will be to bring them together through the shared interest for fashion and provide them with a set of skills and support that will enable them to create and produce their own fashion collection. This skills will most likely benefit them in future and we would be more than happy to continue to support them should they wish to pursue a career or studies in Fashion. We will also provide work experience and internship opportunities to young designers and recent graduates. The overall aim is to work towards inclusivity and accessibility, we want people to be able to voice their ideas and feel welcomed into a safe and inclusive fashion world. I believe it is time to change the fashion industry and For Fashion's Sake vows to give fashion to the people, put them in control and bring much needed change.

Steps to get it done:

  • Buying the necessary equipment and materials for the participants to use and learn with.
  • Renting a space for the catwalk and exhibition
  • Organisation of the event, catering, photographers, hair and make up
  • Costs of promoting the event
