Age 18 to 35; Interactive art (BA)degree, anti-racist drama productions, environmentally friendly circus work, 35 film shoots, (drama) from Newport, Cardiff, Oxford, Germany to Corby. At 35, I went travelling in Asia for 18 months with my camera and painting materials and have a large body of work as well as having enjoyed ; organic farming, white water rafting, trekking, teaching art on a Gandhi Ashram, making films in Mumbai, being on a Tibetan refugee camp with a broken arm during their political uprising, Mahayana Buddhism meditation retreat, 8 day Dalai Lama teaching, diving, beach parties, snorkelling and kayaking and coach surfing. I moved to Wolverhampton in 2011 and have been doing community art workshops, running a community garden and have been on the Leonardo Da Vinci Art Mentoring scheme in Portugal; growing organic vegetables in a vertical garden with artists and primary school children. Art exhibitions; combining poetry with visuals & music, Glass collage for Partition of India community showcase, Art & Poetry on my father’s refugee experience with nature for an exhibition of work with local refugees and developing artists. I always paint outside by canals, woods and parks, and experiment in the studio with re-making and editing with my poetry. My photography is either of local nature or social projects I get involved in. Working with the Poverty Truth Commission past two years I have been involved in local policy changes. Gatis Community Space is where I have been working for 5 years, workshops with families; papercraft animals, musical instrument making from junk, decoupage, giant group paintings and bread making. There is a strong vegan and environmentalism in the centre, and I enjoy going to their events as well as promoting them in the local area. There is a garden here the hosts many activities including storytelling. I have consolidated all my values there.
