The idea
Fix It Collective is launching a community-powered hub in South London where people can bring their items to be repaired or learn to repair, reuse, and repurpose themselves; tackling waste and building practical, sustainable skills together.
As well as a repair atelier open daily, we will run workshops in electronics, textiles, upcycling... helping people fix what they have, share knowledge, and feel confident doing it. We will also run events and chats on sustainability and living a waste free life. Our space rooted in the community will be open to all, with a focus on inclusivity, creativity, and climate action.
From sewing to soldering, we want to make circular living accessible and empowering for everyone; especially for those who haven’t had the opportunity to learn these skills before.
This funding will help us securing a space in Peckham area, run regular workshops, grow our tool library, and give us a great start. Together, we can build a culture of care, not waste.
What we'll deliver
- Run a regular programme of repair and reuse workshops
- Talks & screening to bring people together and spark ideas
- Purchase tools and materials for community use
- A repair atelier, open daily
- Community events: repair cafes, bring and swap events, art & crafts, music
Why it's a great idea
Fix It Collective will empower South London residents to rethink their relationship with belongings, bringing repair, reuse, and repurposing into their daily life. We aim to foster a circular economy and reduce waste through hands-on workshops and events where participants gain practical, confidence-building skills. This initiative will strengthen community bonds by bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds to take collective environmental action, inspiring behaviour change and moving the community to a more sustainable future. By offering access to tools, shared resources, and open conversations about change, we make sustainable living more accessible and inclusive. The project also encourages conscious consumption, offering guidance to people when it comes to buy everyday items and understanding what's behind greenwashing. Fix It Collective will create lasting, positive impact for both people and the planet.
