Some exciting news. This project was at a stalemate with the council and now it has been agreed that we are building this ourselves! We do however need to raise further funds, as due to Brexit and Covid buildings costs have gone up. We are now in a position to start building with professional help of course. We have the council’s full permission for this. We are working through the heads of terms for the lease of the land with the council and our legal representatives. It has been agreed that the lease will now run for a period of 7 years minus one day by which time we hope to have the permanent solution to this much needed community space. We have just gone through a tender process and selected our Hub Operators to run the space and we are in the process of selecting from the many tenders our preferred building contractor. We aim to have the hub on site ready to use by the end of December 2022. But we are currently raising further funding to support this. It may mean that we don’t have the green walls and cladding and some of the fittings internally but we will get there in 2022. Watch this space

To make our community cafe even more inclusive and accessible, we want to install a Changing Places Toilet. This will be a bonus feature, added on top of our crowdfunding campaign. We are hoping that the Aviva Community Fund will allow us to install the Changing Places Toilet, but in order to receive this funding, WE NEED YOUR VOTES! Follow this link and submit your vote for Firs Firm Inclusive Community Hub: community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/17-3020
