25 Colourful pictures as Lancaster turns red white and green for Festa Italia
Lancaster GuardianOne of Lancaster’s most loved festivals returned to the city this weekend – and was bigger and better than ever before.\nPeople travelled from far and wide to enjoy the festival, which had a packed programme of events, activities and entertainment taking place in the city centre.

The environment
We tried to use local companies and performers where possible, all stalls were responsible for removing their rubbish and we went round the event space after each day tidying up any rubbish left.
The local economy
The stalls were kept to a minimum in order for local businesses to reap the benefits of all the people in attendance, all activities and entertainment were free. We brought in to the city for the weekend that traveled specifically to Lancaster for the event. We worked with various businesses throughout the event, the event was publicized both locally through social media, Beyond Radio and Lancaster Guardian as well as international coverage through Complitaly news channel. One business stated that they had, had the busiest Sunday since they opened, they usually close at 5pm on Sunday but stayed open till 8.30pm due to the extra customers from the event.
Volunteering, jobs & education
We had volunteers helping at the event on the day.
Arts, culture & heritage
We brought music and dancing to the city that people may not have experienced previously and we celebrated the cities heritage as the Romans founded the city.
Activity, health and leisure
We were promoting healthy eating at the event with chefs from the Association of Italian Chefs showing people how easy it is to make fresh pasta and in turn make a delicious, nutritious meal on a budget.
