The environment

The project included drainage works that effectively drains the new viewing area and park access. The surface is permeable to reduce water run-off and avoid flooding

The local economy

We are "a not for profit sports and social club", all surpluses are reinvested to the benefit of members, we expect to see an increase in foot fall in the village leading to increased revenues. The work contract was awarded to local business to deliver the project, thus investing in the local economy

Volunteering, jobs & education

New Longton Sports and Social Club is managed by a Committee of volunteers. These members have project manged the works from the initial idea through to delivery.

Arts, culture & heritage

Sports and access to sports propagate a culture of healthy living.

Activity, health and leisure

The extension of the spectator viewing area, and the popularity of the sports played at New Longton will allow more of the local community to share and enjoy the sports.
