Project St Thomas is a welcoming community hub in Spalding where people can eat, connect, and access support. Based in the former Methodist Hall on St Thomas Road, the hub brings local residents together through a range of community activities and practical support.
A key part of the hub is our weekly community café, which provides affordable home-cooked meals in a warm and welcoming environment. Alongside this we run a Pay It Forward scheme, allowing those who are able to contribute a little extra so that someone else in the community can also enjoy a meal. This helps ensure that everyone is welcome, regardless of their circumstances.
The hub also supports local residents in a number of practical ways, including distributing surplus food donations to households across the community. We are also preparing to launch a Money Advice service to help people with budgeting, managing bills and accessing the right financial support before problems escalate.
On Sundays the hall hosts the HIHO (Hub In, Hub Out) service, which provides a free meal and welcoming space for people who may be experiencing isolation or hardship.
Much of the activity at Project St Thomas is supported by volunteers who give their time to help run sessions, welcome visitors and support events, creating opportunities for people to get involved and contribute positively to their community.
Through conversations with families and community partners it has become clear that youth provision in Spalding is limited, particularly safe and structured activities for younger children. In response, Project St Thomas has partnered with YMCA Lincolnshire, a trusted provider of youth services, to develop new opportunities for young people at the hub.
